Cheetos were created by Charles Elmer Doolin in 1948. The early test batches were cooked in the Frito research and development kitchen. Cheetos were an instant hit, but Doolin lacked distribution and production capacity for sales throughout the U.S. This prompted a partnership with the Lay’s potato chip company to form Frito Lay. Cheetos were a massive hit and inspired a whole range of cheese flavoured snacks including Cheez Doodles and Cheese Curls. American Cheetos are now available in a number of flavours including the original Cheetos Crunchy, Flamin Hot and limited editions such as Savory American Cream.

American Cheetos Ingredients:

The original variety of American Cheetos; Cheetos Crunchy are made from cornmeal and contain the following ingredients; vegetable oil, cheese seasoning, whey protein, monosodium glutamate, lactic acid, citric acid, yellow six colouring and salt. The product also contains Vitamins B6, B3, and B2, providing up to four percent of the RDA per serving. Unfortunately, due to the use of milk products and non vegetarian rennet cheese, this product is unsuitable for vegetarians or vegans.
